Frequently Asked Questions

For Renters (Tenants)

Rent reporting allows tenants to document and submit their rent payment history so it can be reported to a credit bureau. With LeaseConfirm, verified rent payment data may be reported to Equifax Canada, helping reflect rental behavior on a tenant’s credit file.

Tenants self-report their rent by making those payments through LeaseConfirm or upload proof of payment. The reported data is submitted to Equifax Canada by our reporting cycle.

It is not required.

If you choose the Self Reporting, your landlord involvement is not required.

If you choose Automatic Rent Reporting, upon setup, your landlord will receive a simple invitation to review and accept the rent payment setup and securely connect their payout details.

Yes.
Tenants remain in control of what is submitted, and no data reporting is landlord-dependent.

Rent reporting does not guarantee a specific credit outcome. Credit scores are calculated by Equifax Canada based on multiple factors. Rent reporting helps add verified rental data to your credit file, which may support a more complete credit profile over time.

You can pay rent securely online using pre-authorized debit (PAD) – powered by Stripe. Your landlord needs to setup their payout details, while you setup your banking details – Stripe and LeaseConfirm handle the rest, as payment flows directly from tenant to landlord and not through a LeaseConfirm bank account.

LeaseConfirm submits rent reporting data in scheduled monthly cycles to Equifax Canada.

Tenants purchase their Credit Report through their accounts embedded with TransUnion, consent, and share it with you. You’ll need the Credit Score to determine Risk Rankings, using the Tenant Risk Analyzer – and send the Tenants the results.
